Macedo Declares Victory, Dutra Concedes District 4 Race

WHITTIER, CA — The outcome of the Whittier City Council District 4 race has now been formally acknowledged by both campaigns, confirming the decisive result seen in Tuesday night’s returns.

Councilmember Fernando Dutra has officially conceded the race to Aida Macedo, bringing an end to his 14-year tenure representing the district.

In a statement released Wednesday, Dutra thanked the community for the opportunity to serve and congratulated Macedo on her victory, expressing confidence in her leadership moving forward.

Macedo’s campaign also released a statement declaring victory based on semi-official results, which show her receiving 67.04 percent of the vote compared to Dutra’s 26.88 percent.

“I am deeply humbled by the trust that voters have placed in me,” Macedo said, describing the campaign as a grassroots effort built on community support. She also thanked Dutra for his years of service and acknowledged his concession.

The exchange of statements reflects a smooth transition following one of the most decisive races in this election cycle.

The results remain semi-official and are scheduled to be certified by the Whittier City Council on April 28.

This development confirms earlier projections based on precinct-level data showing Macedo holding a commanding and consistent lead across the district.

Bottom Line:With both candidates now acknowledging the outcome, the District 4 race is officially settled, confirming Aida Macedo’s decisive victory and marking a transition in representation for the district.
