NEW CASES BEGIN INCREASING IN WHITTIER AREA NOVEMBER 10 2020

Rebecca Canales

The number of daily new COVID 19 cases in the Whittier Area has gone up for the first time since the watch began during the week of Halloween a week and a half ago.

There were a total of 113 new cases today versus just 41 on the October 31st Halloween holiday. The numbers indicate the Halloween/Holiday season COVID 19 spike has officially arrived in the Whittier Area today. Based on available data we can expect the number of new cases, including deaths and hospitalizations to spike upward in the Whittier Area.

There has been a slight increase in deaths. Yesterday there were at least 5 deaths in the Whittier Area but today there were only two reported deaths in the area, including one in the City of Whittier. There was also one in West Whittier/Los Nietos.

The communities with the top 5 cases today were:

  1. Pico Rivera 25

  2. City of Whittier 23

  3. South Whittier 20

  4. Hacienda Heights 14

  5. North Whittier 8

It is the first time that North Whittier has been part of the top 5.
