A fact check into the leadership of the Proud Boys organization has found that the leadership of the organization that has been accused of being anti Latino is led by Latinos.
At the top of the organization, Henry "Enrique" Tarrio took over the leadership from Gavin McInnes in 2018. Prior to that he was the leader of the South Florida chapter.
Tarrio is a Cuban American who said he was drawn to the group because they shared some of his values.
However most chapters have a great deal of autonomy. In many places the leaders of some chapters are also Latinos. None of the chapters responded to questions from Whittier 360.
Apparently the group requires members to adopt of vow celibacy which means they are not allowed to have sexual relations nor masturbate which previous research has shown can cause men to become overly aggressive. Those who break the vow are often kicked out of the group.
