WHITTIER AREA SEES MASSIVE INCREASE IN NEW INFECTIONS IN ONE WEEK PERIOD

The weekly data report shows the Whittier Area had a total of 2,272 new SARS COV 2 infections this week. It is unknown precisely how many of those new positive test results are people with an illness serious enough to be hospitalized but it is known that the majority of the new just people walking around carrying the virus and spreading to those with weaker immune systems. Even if we don't know hospitalizations we know there are now at least 2,272 new carriers running around the Whittier Area.

The Whittier Area also saw 14 new COVID 19 caused deaths week, a number that remains well below the county's own numbers.

The data also shows the percentage of people coming up positive for the virus on the COVID 19 tests has also increased. Only one community, La Habra Heights, saw a significant decrease in population penetration of the SARS COV 2 virus. One community, Whittier Narrows saw no change. But the rest, or 16 communities out of 18 saw an increase in community penetration by the SARS COV 2 virus. That works out to 88% of the Whittier Area seeing increased penetration by the SARS COV 2 virus into their neighborhoods.
