BREAKING NEWS: WHITTIER AND PICO RIVERA LEAVE COVID RED ZONE AS HALLOWEEN OFFICIALLY BEGINS

The City of Whittier and City of Pico Rivera have finally left the Red Zone this morning after a careful analysis of their weekly progressive. Both are now in the Orange zones because while they are not getting mass numbers of new cases, the number of daily cases is still slowly increasing in each. The unincorporated community of South Whittier left the Orange zone for the safer Yellow zone which is one notch above the safest level, the Green Zone.

Because of the changes Whittier 360 is no longer that Whittier or Pico Rivera not participate in things like trick or treating but we still advise extreme caution if they do choose to participate.

However while Whittier, Pico Rivera and South Whittier dropped to slightly safer levels, three new communities took their place in the red zone this week and as such we are advising against all trick and treating and other holiday events being held in those communities. Those are La Mirada, Industry, West Whittier/Los Nietos. According to the graph below the daily COVID 19 numbers in those communities has begun to increase at a very rapid race.

If you are in the red or orange zones and you choose to go ahead an participate in any Halloween events remember to wear properly fitted face masks and keep at least 10 feet of distance from all other groups yours may encounter. We suggest that if you have not done so, sit down with your family and come up with a COVID 19 contact plan which is another way of saying that starting on Halloween night, you keep track of every single person you come into contact for the next 7 days in case you end up coming up positive for COVID after Halloween. Catching it earlier matters a lot according to most studies and can mean the difference between life and death. Or you can voluntarily self isolate for a week after the trick and treating and other Halloween event you participated in. Keep in mind that we are expecting a massive spike of COVID 19 in all communities in the two weeks immediately following Halloween and Election weekend. So everyone should be taking extreme precautions as they participate in any Halloween related social event including trick or treating.

Here the communities listed in order of what color safety code they fall under for Halloween.
