The COVID 19 infection rate may have stabilised in the Whittier Area with some communities having more or less than other communites in the Whittier Area.
There were two deaths. One in the City of Whittier and one in the City of Pico Rivera. Unincorporated areas saw no deaths today.
The top 5 communities with the highest number of new infections today are:
City of Whittier- 18
City of Pico Rivera- 16
Unincorporated Community of South Whittier- 15
Hacienda Heights- 6
West Whittier/Los Nietos 5
The goal at the moment is to keep new infections below 10 per day until it can better controlled. Anything above 10 is seen as a warning signal. Anything above 20 in one day is especially bad. Any number below 10 is considered good given the current situation.
Altogether, just for today there were 72 new cases of people getting sick from COVID 19. The annual total now sits at 12,792.
Today there were only 2 deaths but for the year there were 278 and that was spread out over 8 months.
When you average out the numbers, so far there have been 1,599 new cases of COVID 19 in the Whittier Area each month. The average number of COVID 19 caused deaths per month is 35 which as noted earlier is considered too high a number for any community.
Unless the entire Whittier Area gets its new COVID daily numbers below 10 for a consecutive 14 days in row, Whittier 360 may have to cancel both the Christmas Party and the News Years Party. But we will keep watching the data and go from there. Please tell everyone you know that at a minimum, Whittier needs to be below 10 cases per day for at least 14 days in a row in order to avoid another COVID 19 wave. The lower the community can get the number for 14 days in a row the better.
