There was a slight increase in the number of COVID 19 caused deaths in the Whittier as the third COVID 19 wave continued to spike up the number of new COVID cases in the area.
There were 3 COVID deaths yesterday. The City of Whittier, South Whittier, and Pico Rivera each saw one new COVID death.
The Whittier Area saw almost 200, or 185 approximately, new COVID 19 cases which is a significant increase from where it was on October 31st by almost 100 fold. Despite this people are still holding mass parties and engaging in sports without masks or other COVID related precautions.
Both the City of Whittier and City of Pico Rivera are rapidly approaching the 50 new cases per day point. West Whittier/Los Nietos is also heading in the 50 new cases per day mark.
The only community that saw a significant drop was La Habra but that may be due to a lag in data reporting than to an actual drop in new cases.
In La Mirada there is a noticeable spike going on as you can see from the graph.
The communities with the top 5 highest new COVID 19 cases were:
City of Whittier - 45 new cases
City of Pico Rivera- 43 new cases
West Whittier/Los Nietos - 28 new cases
Hacienda Heights- 19 cases
South Whittier- 16 cases
Some communities showed zero growth but it should be cautioned that may, again, be due to the lag in public reporting of new cases in those communities. If the total number of new cases for the entire continues to move toward the 200 mark, the entire Whittier Area will be marked for Red COVID Alert starting tomorrow or Monday.
